Doctors of the World Opens New Health Center in Azaz, Syria
The Mother and Child Health Center in Syria has been renovated due to earthquakes and wear, and has begun providing services in its new building.
The Doctors of the World association ceremoniously opened the new building of the renovated Mother and Child Health Center in the town of Soran, located in the Azaz district of Syria.
Opening Ceremony Held
Doctors of the World continues to provide free healthcare services in crisis-affected regions of Syria. The new building of the center, which has been operating since 2018 in the town of Soran in Azaz, north of Aleppo, opened on Sunday.
New Building and Earthquake Damage
The former building of the center had been damaged in the 2023 earthquakes, in addition to suffering wear and tear from long-term use. The new building, which offers broader facilities, became operational with a held ceremony.
Well-Attended Ceremony
The opening ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Salduz, Chairman of the Board of Doctors of the World, the Deputy Governor of Aleppo, local health authorities, the Mufti of Azaz, and local residents.
Free Services Six Days a Week
A total of 33 local personnel, including obstetrics and pediatrics specialists, a dentist, and a pharmacist, work at the Soran Mother and Child Health Center. The center provides completely free healthcare services six days a week.
Comprehensive Health Services
Equipped with laboratory and ultrasound devices, the center features expert teams performing normal deliveries. Medications prescribed by doctors are also provided free of charge to patients from the pharmacy within the center.
Goal to Reach Millions of People
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Salduz stated that more than 480,000 people have been reached through the center to date. By the end of 2026, the goal is to provide examination services to 100,000 people in the field of maternal and child health.
