Five-Year Health Cooperation Launched Between Vietnam and the United States
A new memorandum of understanding aimed at combating infectious diseases and enhancing healthcare capacity has been signed between the two countries.
Vietnam and the United States have signed a comprehensive five-year Health Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding to enhance cooperation in the prevention and control of infectious diseases.
Signing Process of the Memorandum
Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan and U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Jennifer McNamara Wick signed a strategic Cooperation Memorandum in the healthcare field. This important initiative strengthens relations between the two countries.
Strengthening Healthcare Capacity
This new program aims to support Vietnam in strengthening its healthcare infrastructure and increasing its self-sufficiency in HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis prevention programs.
It is also targeted to develop capacity regarding effective responses to emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.
Financial Support and Strategic Framework
The signing ceremony took place within the framework of the Trump administration's Global Health Strategy, with approximately $100 million planned to be provided as global health assistance.
Since 2004, the total value of U.S. medical assistance provided to Vietnam has exceeded $930 million.
