Four female healthcare personnel working at Kastamonu Training and Research Hospital learned they had breast cancer during routine check-ups in 2025. Leaving the challenging chemotherapy and treatment process behind by giving each other strength, the friends celebrated the joy of regaining their health.

The Diagnosis Process of Four Friends Working at the Same Hospital

Serpil Uslu, Fikriye Özkan, and Ferhan Naz Kırkçeşmeli, who work as nurses at Kastamonu Training and Research Hospital, along with secretary Şafak Kara, were diagnosed with breast cancer during check-ups conducted by the Provincial Health Directorate.

They Supported Each Other and Completed the Challenging Treatment

Facing months of chemotherapy, surgery, and intensive treatment processes together, the four friends stated that they were able to get through this period stronger because they were not alone.

They Celebrated with Pink Clothes and Balloons

Following the final examinations showing they were completely free of cancer cells, the women came together at a restaurant in the city to celebrate by wearing pink clothes and releasing pink balloons.

Provincial Health Director Attended the Celebration Program

Kastamonu Provincial Health Director Dr. Fevzi Küçükyılmaz also attended the organized program, sharing in the joy of the four friends defeating cancer and supporting them.

The Vital Importance of Early Diagnosis Was Emphasized

Recounting the treatment process, Serpil Uslu stated that noticing the disease at an early stage positively affected the recovery process, while Şafak Kara expressed that mammography check-ups should not be avoided.

Their Doctor Explained the Difficult Process and the Moment of Diagnosis

Dr. Zeycan Kübra Cevval, a faculty member at Kastamonu University Faculty of Medicine who diagnosed the four friends, stated that giving this news to the personnel working at the same hospital was quite difficult for her as well.
