In the training organized by the Karabük Provincial Directorate of Health for gendarmerie personnel, the vital importance of premarital genetic screenings and childhood screening programs in early diagnosis was detailed.

Purpose and Scope of the Training

The Karabük Provincial Directorate of Health organized a National Premarital and Childhood Screenings training for the personnel of the Karabük Provincial Gendarmerie Command for the purpose of early diagnosis of genetic and metabolic diseases.

Training activities are continuously sustained with the goal of delivering preventive health services to every segment of society and detecting diseases in the early period.

Importance of Early Diagnosis

Emphasizing that a strong society is possible with healthy generations, the seminar explained the critical role of screening programs in detecting hereditary and metabolic diseases before they show symptoms.

During the presentations conducted by educators Çağla Akkaya and Vildan Seven, attention was drawn to the vital importance of early diagnosis.

Premarital and Newborn Screenings

Within the scope of the program, premarital SMA and thalassemia screenings, as well as guidance services for risky couples, were conveyed to the gendarmerie personnel.

Additionally, it was aimed to prevent potential mental or physical disabilities at the initial stage thanks to hearing, hip dislocation, vision, and heel prick blood screenings.

Acknowledgment and Closing

Provincial Health Directorate officials thanked the management of the Karabük Provincial Gendarmerie Command for their high sensitivity and hospitality regarding the protection of children's health.
