Since the beginning of the year, hundreds of thousands of elderly people in Vinh Long province have undergone routine health checks, but the coverage rate remains at 48.9%. This situation highlights the need to transition health services from individual checks to regular health management and monitoring.

Scope of Health Services

As of August 2026, 346,508 out of 708,493 elderly people across the province have undergone at least one annual health check, and this rate was recorded at 48.9%. Although this figure shows that a significant portion has been reached, the gap still needs to be closed.

Importance of Regular Check-ups

Regular health checks enable the early detection of diseases in the elderly and help adjust their lifestyles accordingly. The effectiveness of care is measured not only by the number of visits, but also by the monitoring of health data.

Grassroots Implementations

The health station in Dong Thanh commune organized visits and health consultations for the elderly in August, conducting periodic checks and creating health records. This approach lays the foundation for long-term health management.

Access Rates by Region

In regions I and II, where ethnic minorities live, 63,305 out of 135,344 elderly people underwent routine checks in the past eight months, with the rate here standing at 46.8%. It is important to bring services closer to the people.

Communication and Information Activities

Commune and ward health centers coordinated numerous communication sessions, integrating elderly health care into the activities of various organizations. The focus is on the prevention and early treatment of common diseases.

Home-Centered Approach

Local authorities conduct home visits to reach elderly people with limited mobility or those unable to participate in group activities. This direct approach is of great importance in terms of transferring knowledge and skills.

Social Activities and Community Life

In addition to physical care, mutual assistance clubs, health sessions, music performances, and chess events are organized to ensure that the elderly socialize and stay active.

Future Goals

The aim is to increase the number of examined individuals and ensure the continuity of care activities. The coordination of health centers with local regions offers opportunities for early risk detection.
