Health Minister Memişoğlu: Our health system touches 3 million people a day

Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu stated during a meeting with students who entered medical faculties with top scores that Turkey's health system reaches millions of citizens every day.

Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu came together with students who entered medical faculties with top ranks at a program held at the Ministry of Health Bilkent Campus. Evaluations on the medical profession and student processes were made during the program.

Capacity of the Health System

Drawing attention to the scale of Turkey's health system, Minister Memişoğlu stated that the system touches approximately 3 million people daily. It was conveyed that services are provided with a total of 1.5 million health workers and 271,000 hospital beds.

Number of Physicians and Staff

Touching upon the structure of health personnel across the country, Memişoğlu emphasized that within the large army of approximately 1.5 million, there are nearly 253,000 physicians and that health services are offered in the best way everywhere in the country.

Idealism and Professional Understanding

Addressing the youth, Minister Memişoğlu stated that choosing difficulty is an indicator of idealism and asked candidate physicians to preserve these values. It was expressed that medicine is a profession that harbors empathy, altruism, and emotion.

It was expressed during the program that Turkey has undergone a major transformation in terms of health infrastructure and service quality over the last two decades and has covered significant ground.

Recommendations to Students and Closing

Memişoğlu called on young physician candidates never to neglect their families and to be loyal. At the end of the event, stethoscopes were gifted to successful students and success was wished in their professional lives.
