Speaking at a meeting held at İzmir City Hospital, Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu announced that establishing a research and application center with an international mission in the fields of rare diseases and autism is targeted for İzmir.
Scope and Importance of the Meeting
At the meeting held at İzmir City Hospital, current health services in the fields of rare diseases and autism, as well as the city's research and health tourism capacity, were discussed.
Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu stated that the issue is a shared responsibility concerning not only patients and their families, but all segments of society.
Parliamentary Commission Activities
Providing information on the activities carried out within the scope of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Commission on Investigating the Problems of Individuals with Disabilities, Kasapoğlu stated that the prepared reports will not remain within the walls of the Parliament.
Drawing attention to the importance of joint work by different political parties, it was emphasized that the results obtained are aimed to be delivered to 86 million citizens.
Emphasis on Accessibility and Autism
It was stated that in order to make the lives of individuals with disabilities easier, the physical environment as well as education, digital services, and technological tools must be approached with an understanding of accessibility.
Regarding autism, the importance of early detection and diagnosis was pointed out, and it was stated that there is a need to develop science-based educational practices.

It was expressed that İzmir's strong infrastructure and pioneering mission should be reflected in rare diseases and autism studies.
The research and application center planned to be established within İzmir City Hospital is aimed to have an international mission, not remaining limited only to Turkey.
