List of Traditional Medicine Products Under Health Insurance Being Expanded
The Ministry of Health has prepared a new draft to expand the list of traditional medicines and herbal products, which has not been updated since 2015.
The Ministry of Health has announced the preparation of a comprehensive draft circular to update the list of traditional medicines and herbal products for individuals covered by health insurance.
Preparation of the Draft Circular
The Ministry of Health has taken a new step to renew the list containing herbal medicines and traditional medical products for individuals under health insurance coverage.
Changes in Lists and Numerical Data
With the new draft, the list of traditional and herbal medicines has shown an increase of 129 items, reaching a total of 358 items.
In contrast, the appendix on medicinal plants experienced a decrease of 5 items, dropping this number to 344 items.
Products Covered by the Health Insurance Fund
The prepared draft text also includes a separate appendix containing a list of 35 drugs paid for by the Health Insurance Fund that contain combined active ingredients.
Current Status and Statements
Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan emphasized that the current practice continues based on previous circulars and that this update has been anticipated for some time.
Tran Thi Trang, Director of the Health Insurance Department, stated that the share of traditional medicine methods in total medical examinations remains low.
