The Malatya İnönü University Turgut Özal Medical Center Stem Cell and Bone Marrow Transplantation Center performed one hundred stem cell transplants in the first eight months of this year. Serving with forty beds within the Oncology Hospital, the unit has reached a total of two thousand bone marrow transplants since 2010.
Future Goals and New Laboratory Projects
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Erkurt, the head of the center, stated that they aim to operationalize the Mesenchymal Stem Cell Research Laboratory in the future. They aim to provide treatments in fields such as neurological disorders and heart diseases by producing matured stem cells in this laboratory.
