Measures Announced Following Increase in West Nile Virus Cases
Following the increase in cases in the south and one death, the Ministry of Health announced that simultaneous measures have been raised to the highest level across the Island.
Following the rise in West Nile Virus cases to 10 in the Republic of Cyprus and the death of one person, the Ministry of Health issued a written statement announcing that all necessary precautions have been taken.
Consultation with the Bi-Communal Health Committee
Following reports in the press, mutual consultations were held via the Bi-Communal Health Committee regarding the current status of West Nile Virus cases in the south.
Number of Cases and Deceased Person
After the committee placed the issue on its agenda, the briefing officially conveyed that the total number of cases had reached 10 and one person had lost their life.
Cases Near the Border in Nicosia
Following the detection of two cases near the border in Nicosia, measures were increased by the Primary Health Care Services Department and the Nicosia Turkish Municipality.
Measures Increased Across the Island
Minister of Health Dr. Hakan Dinçyürek called Nicosia Turkish Municipality Mayor Mehmet Harmancı to share information, while the Union of Municipalities was also briefed and asked to raise precautions to the highest level across the Island.
