Large Increase in Case Numbers
According to the infectious disease surveillance system, approximately 100,000 cases were recorded nationwide in the first eight months of 2026, representing an increase of more than 2.5 times compared to the same period last year.
Case Increases Continue in Many Regions
Over the past four weeks, case increases have continued in many regions, including Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Dong Thap, Tay Ninh, Lam Dong, Da Nang, and Hanoi.
Risk Group and Future Expectations
The disease is predominantly concentrated in children under the age of 5, accounting for 87.3% of the cases; the ministry anticipates that cases may continue to rise.
