Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu announced data on preventive health services, primary health care facilities, maternal health follow-ups, and comprehensive screening studies across Turkey on the occasion of Public Health Week.
Primary Health Care Services and Family Physicians
Primary care facilities operate uninterruptedly across the country to ensure citizens have the easiest access to health services.
Activities of Healthy Life Centers
Healthy Life Centers, which provide support in 17 different areas ranging from nutrition to physical activity, increase the quality of life of citizens.
Providing service across the country, 357 Healthy Life Centers received a total of 26 million applications over the past 2-year period.
Support for Mother and Baby Health
Guidance activities carried out in the field to raise awareness among expectant and new mothers are continuing comprehensively.
Within the scope of the process, 62 thousand midwives actively serve in the field, while 1 thousand 774 Pregnancy Schools prepare expectant mothers for birth and the subsequent period.
Additionally, digital guidance services are provided to 260 thousand active users through the Journey of Motherhood mobile application.
Early Diagnosis-Focused Cancer and Chronic Disease Screenings
The status of millions of citizens was examined through chronic disease screenings carried out in line with proactive health policies.
As a result of 158 million chronic disease screenings performed, disorders were detected at an early stage in 14.1 million citizens.
Within the framework of efforts to combat cancer, 16.1 million free cancer screenings were completed and early-stage diagnoses were made in 36 thousand people.
Combating Addiction and Increase in the Number of Polyclinics
Health infrastructure and service networks across the country have been significantly expanded in order to combat tobacco and similar addictions.
The number of Smoking Cessation Polyclinics was increased by 260 percent, rising to 1 thousand 678.
