Ministry of Health's 2026 Private Hospital Planning to Open 34 New Facilities in 11 Provinces
Within the scope of the 2026 planning prepared by the Ministry of Health, a total of 34 new private hospitals will enter service in 11 different provinces.
Within the framework of the 2026 Private Hospitals Planning Announcement prepared by the General Directorate of Health Services, it is planned to open 34 new private hospitals with 50 beds each in 11 provinces, providing a total of 2,620 additional beds.
Main Objectives and Goals of the Planning
The General Directorate of Health Services of the Ministry of Health has prepared a new study in order to prevent idle capacity in the private health sector, ensure the efficient use of resources, and maintain the balance between the public and private sectors.
Increasing the Private Sector Bed Share
With the investments under the new regulation, the private sector's share of the total patient bed capacity across Turkey is targeted to increase from 19 percent to 20 percent.
Distribution of New Hospital Investments by Province
In line with the planning, it was decided to establish a total of 34 new private hospitals, each with a bed capacity of 50, in 11 provinces.
Hospital Investments in Istanbul and Metropolitan Cities
While Istanbul ranked first with 9 new hospitals, four hospital investments are projected to be made in Ankara, Antalya, Bursa, Izmir, and Mugla provinces.
Investment Plans in Other Provinces
One new hospital investment each is planned to be implemented in the provinces of Rize, Diyarbakir, Hatay, Van, and Afyonkarahisar.
Distribution of Additional Bed Allocations
While 500 of the 2,620 additional patient beds to be provided nationwide are allocated to Istanbul, 180 to Ankara, and 140 to Izmir, active hospitals will be able to request a maximum of 50 additional beds.
Specialist Physician Staff Licenses and Conditions
A total of 239 specialist physician staff licenses have been allocated in fields such as Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Chest Diseases, and Child Mental Health to increase the capacity of existing hospitals.
