Nationwide School Health Screenings to Expand Starting in 2028
Comprehensive screenings for students are coming under the Ministry of Health's new program. Meanwhile, a tragic incident in the Tuyen Quang region resulted in two fatalities.
Within the scope of the National Health Target Program for the 2026-2035 period announced by the Ministry of Health, school screenings nationwide will be expanded starting in 2028. On the other hand, fatalities occurred in Tuyen Quang due to the consumption of a herbal drink.
National Health Target Program
The Ministry of Health has issued Circular No. 34/2026/TT-BYT on the implementation of the National Health, Population, and Development Target Program for the 2026-2035 period.
School Health Screening Details
Starting in 2028, all students from preschool to high school will be regularly screened for five different groups of diseases and disorders.
Targeted Disease Groups
Students will be thoroughly examined for conditions such as overweight, obesity, refractive errors, scoliosis, dental problems, and mental health disorders.
Simultaneous Operation with Annual Checks
These health screenings can be conducted simultaneously with annual regular health checks in order to prevent duplicate screenings.
Poisoning Incident in Tuyen Quang
In the Tuyen Quang region, three people who consumed a herbal-based mixture were hospitalized in critical condition, but despite all interventions, two of them could not be saved and lost their lives.
Urgent Investigation Request
Following the fatal poisoning case, the Ministry of Health requested the launch of an urgent investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident.
