Public Health Week Statement from Health Minister Memişoğlu
Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu announced that preventive health services have been strengthened with 31,000 family physicians across Turkey, and early diagnosis activities are being carried out resolutely.
In his statement on the occasion of Public Health Week, Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu announced that preventive health services have been strengthened with 8,401 Family Health Centers and 31,000 family physicians across the country.
Preventive Health Services
Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu stated that 31,000 family physicians working in 8,401 Family Health Centers nationwide provide uninterrupted service to citizens.
The statement noted that the journey was initiated with the goal of a healthier Turkey for 81 provinces and 86 million people, and that preventive health services are being advanced even further.
Healthy Life Centers
Memişoğlu stated that versatile support is provided in 17 different areas, ranging from nutrition to physical activity, across 357 Healthy Life Centers.
It was shared with official figures that a total of 26 million applications have been received by the centers in the last two years.
Maternal and Infant Health
Comprehensive guidance services are provided to expectant mothers through 62,000 midwives and 1,774 Maternity Schools operating within the ministry.
It was also stated that mothers are supported throughout this process with the "Maternity Journey" mobile application, which has 260,000 active users.
Chronic Disease and Cancer Screenings
Within the scope of early diagnosis and preventive steps, 158 million chronic disease screenings were carried out, and diseases were detected at an early stage in 14.1 million citizens.
As a result of 16.1 million free cancer screenings, it was announced that the disease was identified at an early stage in 36,000 citizens and treatment processes were initiated.
Combating Addiction and Call to Action
The number of Smoking Cessation Outpatient Clinics was increased by 260 percent, reaching 1,678.
Minister Memişoğlu thanked healthcare workers and invited all citizens to visit Family Health Centers and Healthy Life Centers.
