The Turkish Medical Association and retired physicians held a joint press statement in front of the Ministry of Health, demanding a humane life against low pensions, the high cost of living, and injustices stemming from social security status.

Widespread Protest in Front of the Ministry of Health

The Turkish Medical Association and retired physicians came together in front of the Ministry of Health to seek their rights.

Numerous professional organizations and union representatives also supported the organized press statement.

High Participation from Professional Organizations

The protest was attended by the chair and members of the TTB Central Council, as well as executives of medical chambers from various provinces.

The Health and Social Service Laborers' Union and the All Retirees' Union were also among the participants.

Emphasis on Poverty and Speeches

Speaking at the opening, Dr. Hakan Erkan Pehlivan stated that retired physicians were condemned to poverty due to low wages.

Following the reading of the press release, TTB and chamber executives also took the floor to voice the problems.

Core Demands of Retired Physicians

It was demanded that retired physicians' pensions be raised above the poverty line and that working wages be reflected in retirement.

It was emphasized that inequalities between SSK and BAĞ-KUR retired physicians must be resolved.

Position Allowance and Additional Payment Issues

It was demanded that the grievances of physicians who remain outside the scope of additional payments due to the position allowance be remedied.

It was stated that the additional payments of physicians who continue to work after retirement should not be cut.

Flat-Rate Increases and Healthcare Services

It was requested that past flat-rate increases made to public officials also be reflected in retirement pensions.

It was demanded that retired physicians' access to healthcare services be facilitated and public care facilities be developed.
