Sağlık-İş Union Kayseri Branch organized training for female workers
At the seminar organized within the scope of the project, violence, harassment, mobbing, and rights provided by international conventions were discussed.
The Kayseri Branch of the Sağlık-İş Union organized an educational seminar on violence, harassment, mobbing, and legal rights in working life for female workers within the framework of the Project on Women's Representation in Working Life.
Scope of the Educational Seminar
An informative seminar was held for female workers within the scope of the Project on Women's Representation in Working Life implemented by the Sağlık-İş Union Kayseri Branch.
This organized event aimed to raise awareness among female employees regarding their rights in business life and to increase their participation in union activities.
Legal Rights and Conventions
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dilek Dulay Yangın, participating as a speaker in the seminar, provided detailed information on violence, harassment, mobbing, discrimination, and legal support mechanisms that women encounter in working life.
Yangın explained the rights granted to female employees by international conventions and stated that 56 countries have signed this convention, but Turkey is not yet a party to it.
Violence at the Workplace and Collective Agreements
It was stated that although Turkey is not a party to the relevant convention, some unions have added clauses to collective labor agreements aimed at preventing violence and harassment in the workplace.
It was emphasized that such regulations carry great importance in terms of protecting and guaranteeing the rights of employees.
Challenges Faced by Healthcare Workers
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dilek Dulay Yangın touched upon the difficulties healthcare workers face in workplaces and shared legal mechanisms that can be applied to in cases of mobbing and discrimination.
Female workers coming from different workplaces also shared their experiences regarding harassment, violence, and mobbing practices they encountered in working life.
Legal Rights and Pressures Encountered
Female workers expressed that they encounter various pressures when they want to use their legal rights, particularly maternity leave and nursing leave, during periods when they are company employees and lacking permanent staff status.
Employees shared the difficulties they experienced and the obstacles they encountered during these processes in detail.
Importance of Union Activities
Sağlık-İş Union Kayseri Branch President Soner Salcanlıer stated that the primary purpose of this organized event is to ensure that female employees take part more in union activities.
The realized project aims to contribute to women's struggles to seek their rights in working life.
