The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that as a result of ongoing attacks, there have been 5,000 cases of limb loss and a total of 10,000 people are in urgent need of rehabilitation.

Statement on World Physical Therapy Day

The Ministry of Health in Gaza issued a comprehensive briefing on the occasion of World Physical Therapy Day, drawing attention to limb losses and treatment processes in the region. The statement emphasized that physiotherapy and medical rehabilitation services have gained vital importance under current conditions.

Injury and Limb Loss Statistics

While it was stated that the attacks led to a massive increase in the number of injured, it was reported that the total number of limb losses has reached 5,000. In addition, it was announced that the number of neurological and spinal cord injury cases has reached 300.

Out of Service Health Centers

It was noted that there are 10,000 cases in need of long-term and intensive rehabilitation. As a result of healthcare institutions being directly targeted in Israeli attacks, a large portion of specialized rehabilitation centers have been rendered out of service.

Call to the International Community and the UN

The ministry made an urgent appeal to international organizations and United Nations delegations, stating that support is being requested for the supply of medical supplies and equipment. It was also reiterated that border crossings must be opened to facilitate the travel of critical health cases.
