Thanks from the Nurses and Midwives Union to healthcare personnel who served in the ferry disaster

The Cyprus Turkish Nurses and Midwives Union thanked all healthcare workers who served devotedly in hospitals, ambulances, and on the open sea following yesterday's ferry disaster with a written statement it published.

Deep Pain Caused by the Ferry Disaster

The Cyprus Turkish Nurses and Midwives Union stated that the ferry disaster has opened a deep wound in everyone's heart, wishing God's mercy upon those who lost their lives and condolences to their relatives. The union emphasized its hope that the missing persons will be found as soon as possible and reunited with their families.

It was stated that healthcare workers demonstrated great devotion by rushing to hospitals, setting out with ambulances, and spending the night in emergency services as soon as the bitter news was heard.

Sense of Duty of Healthcare Workers

It was recalled that nurses in emergency services and 112 Emergency Health teams responded unhesitatingly to calls, even though they were on leave or off-duty. It was noted that many healthcare workers rushed to hospitals and made themselves available without even waiting for a call.

It was recorded that nurses working in emergency services worked meticulously from the initial intervention to the treatment of the wounded, while the teams in the ambulances raced against time.

Search and Rescue Activities on the Open Sea

It was stated that some nurses, not limiting themselves to their duty stations, boarded rescue ships and personally participated in the search and rescue efforts ongoing on the open sea. It was conveyed that the healthcare personnel fought with great courage to reach even a single life.

It was expressed that this sacrifice proved once again that the nursing profession is not merely a job, but a dedication to conscience, responsibility, and human life.

Prayers and Future Hopes

It was reiterated that the pain of the families waiting for their missing loved ones is shared from the heart, and it was hoped that good news would come from the search and rescue operations.
