World Health Organization Announces End of Ebola Outbreak in Uganda

The World Health Organization has officially announced the end of the Ebola outbreak in Uganda after no new cases were recorded for 42 days.

The World Health Organization announced on Thursday that the country is free of Ebola after no new cases were recorded in Uganda for 42 days.

It was officially stated that no transmission has occurred since the last case was discharged on July 16, 2026.

Case and Death Information

In the East African country, a total of 20 Ebola cases and two deaths were recorded, almost all of which involved individuals traveling from the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo.

Officials emphasized that strong measures were taken throughout the outbreak to prevent the spread of the virus.

Assessments by the Ministry of Health

Diana Atwine, Permanent Secretary of the Ugandan Ministry of Health, stated that they assessed the risk and examined all transmission chains and entry dynamics.

Atwine called on countries that imposed travel restrictions on Uganda during the outbreak to lift these restrictions.
