Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that 20 suspects, including fund managers, have been arrested within the scope of investigations conducted against the manipulation of capital markets, and access restrictions have been imposed on 246 social media accounts containing speculative content.

Scope of the Investigations

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek shared details of the judicial investigations conducted regarding transactions aimed at manipulating capital markets. It was stated that judicial authorities took action as a result of the examinations carried out.

CMB Criminal Complaint

A criminal complaint was filed by the Capital Markets Board within the framework of Article 107 of Law No. 6362 on allegations that manipulative transactions were carried out in certain funds and equity markets.

Arrest of Fund Managers

As a result of the investigations conducted, a total of 4 suspects, including fund board chairmen and members, were arrested by the court to which they were referred.

Social Media Measures

An ex officio investigation was launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding speculative posts that could create fear and panic among investors.

Access Blocking Decisions

The Istanbul 1st Criminal Judgeship of Peace ordered the blocking of access to 246 identified social media accounts and notified the relevant institutions.

Bakırköy Investigation

Within the scope of a separate investigation conducted by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, judicial proceedings were implemented against account holders determined to have manipulated the market via social media.

Additional Arrests

Within the scope of the investigation file in Bakırköy, 16 more suspects determined to have made posts aimed at manipulating the markets were arrested and sent to prison.
