Access Block Imposed on 111 Accounts Making Manipulative Shares on Social Media

Within the scope of the efforts carried out by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, access blocks were applied to 111 X accounts determined to have shared manipulative and speculative content on social media, while removal measures were also put into effect for numerous posts.

Access Ban Decision from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office

In line with the decision taken by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, access restrictions were imposed on 111 X accounts identified as sharing manipulative and speculative content on social media platforms. During the same process, removal measures were also applied for 75 posts evaluated as having a speculative nature.

Details of the Investigation and Measures Taken

An ex officio investigation was launched by the Bureau of Investigation for Informatics Crimes regarding the posts reflected to the public on Saturday, September 18. Technical examinations revealed that hundreds of accounts made posts regarding capital market instruments that could cause fear and panic among investors.

Process Carried Out by Relevant Institutions

Following the determinations, the Istanbul 1st Criminal Judgeship of Peace decided to block access to the relevant social media accounts and links. The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that the decision to block access had been sent to the Cyber Security Presidency for implementation.
