Access Block Imposed on Social Media Accounts of Evrensel Newspaper and Rights Organizations

During the "Family is Safe" operations, by a decision of the Bakırköy 4th Criminal Judgeship of Peace, access blocks were imposed on the social media accounts of numerous rights organizations and journalists, including Evrensel Newspaper, Amnesty International Turkey, MLSA, and Academics for Peace.

Scope of Access Blocks

In line with the decision of the Bakırköy 4th Criminal Judgeship of Peace dated September 13, 2026, the accounts of media organizations, human rights organizations, and journalists were shut down.

The implemented access blocks expanded before and after the "Family is Safe" operations, targeting civil society organizations.

Targeted Institutions and Names

According to the list shared by the Freedom of Expression Association, numerous civil society organizations, women's organizations, and members of the press were affected by this decision.

The list included entities such as Evrensel Newspaper, Amnesty Turkey, Academics for Peace, MLSA, Mor Dayanışma, and Kaos GL.

Alternative Accounts Also Blocked

Following the access block decision, Evrensel Newspaper tried to direct its readers to its backup account, but this account was also blocked from access.

The alternative communication channel shared by the newspaper with its followers also became unusable shortly thereafter.
