Access Blocked for Accounts Spreading Disinformation in Narin Güran Investigation
Despite Court of Cassation rulings, the judiciary has taken action against numerous accounts spreading disinformation regarding the Narin Güran murder case.
By a decision of the Diyarbakır Criminal Judgeship of Peace, access was blocked to 99 social media accounts identified as spreading disinformation against the Narin Güran case, despite the finalized judicial ruling by the Court of Cassation.
History of the Murder and Trial Process
The lifeless body of 8-year-old Narin Güran, who went missing on August 21, 2024, in the rural Tavşantepe neighborhood of Bağlar district, was found on September 19 in the Eğertutmaz Stream near the neighborhood.
Court Decisions and Sentences
In the trial regarding Narin's murder, which was concluded on December 28, 2024, her mother Yüksel Güran, her uncle Salim Güran, and her brother Enes Güran were sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment.
Additionally, her neighbor Nevzat Bahtiyar, who carried Narin's lifeless body to the stream, was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for destroying, concealing, or altering evidence of the crime.
Court of Cassation Review and Retrial
The Court of Cassation upheld the sentences given to the Güran family, but reversed the decision by demanding that defendant Bahtiyar be tried for aiding and abetting intentional murder.
Following this reversal decision, Nevzat Bahtiyar, who was retried, was sentenced to 17 years in prison this time.
Measures Taken on Social Media
