Access Restriction Imposed on Social Media Accounts in Mersin
Within the scope of the legal process initiated by the Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, access restrictions were imposed on certain social media accounts.
Upon the request of the Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an access ban was issued for numerous social media accounts on the grounds that they engaged in LGBTI+ propaganda and targeted ongoing judicial investigations.
Reasons for the Access Ban Decision
As a result of the work carried out by the Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the posts of certain social media accounts were taken under review.
Following the evaluations made, an access ban was requested on the grounds that these accounts engaged in LGBTI+ propaganda and targeted ongoing judicial investigations.
Decisions of the Judicial Authorities
Upon the request of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, access ban decisions regarding the relevant social media accounts were issued by the Mersin 3rd Criminal Judgeship of Peace and the Mersin 4th Criminal Judgeship of Peace.
These judicial decisions were forwarded to the authorized institutions for implementation.
Notification of Decisions to the Relevant Institution
It was reported that the process has been initiated to enforce the access ban decisions issued by the courts.
It was stated that decisions within this scope were forwarded to the Presidency of Cybersecurity to be implemented without delay.
Prior Operation Process
In the background of these developments lies the "Family is Safe" operation carried out against LGBTI+ individuals.
Within the framework of the operation in question, police raids were organized on the homes of the board of directors and supervisory board members of the Kaos GL Association.
Detentions and Searches at the Association Office
During the raids carried out on September 13, association officials, including substitute members, were detained.
In addition, it was shared that a search was conducted at the association office and relevant digital materials were seized.
