Access to 92 social media accounts blocked following high school attack in Manisa
Legal proceedings were initiated against numerous accounts determined to have engaged in disinformation regarding the armed incident at the school.
Following an armed attack at a high school in Manisa, 92 social media accounts sharing misleading information to the public were shut down by a decision of the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
Armed Attack That Occurred at the School
An attacker who entered Manisa Turgutlu İnci Üzmez Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in the morning hours opened fire on students.
As a result of the incident, a total of 11 students were injured, two of them critically, creating a great atmosphere of panic at the school.
Intervention of Teams and Detention
Following the incident, numerous police and medical teams were dispatched to the region, and initial interventions were performed on the injured students.
While the injured were taken to hospitals, the suspect, who tried to escape on foot, was caught and detained following a pursuit by law enforcement forces.
Social Media Measures and Access Ban
Within the framework of efforts coordinated by the Directorate of Communications, accounts spreading false information regarding the attack were identified.
92 X accounts determined to have committed the crime of publicly disseminating misleading information to the public were blocked from access by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
