Evaluation of the Armed Attack in Manisa

During his live appearance on NTV, Minister Tekin stated that the armed attack near İnci Üzmez Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Manisa's Turgutlu district should not be characterized as a school attack. Noting that this incident should not be interpreted solely through the concepts of school safety and security, Tekin reminded that the perpetrator took a hunting rifle from his grandfather's house.

Family Responsibility Regarding Firearms and Social Media

Pointing out the importance for families who keep licensed firearms at home to store them in places inaccessible to children, Minister Tekin emphasized the significance of societal security. Tekin stated that since the perpetrator had just recently registered at the school, it was not possible to speak of peer bullying.

Monitoring Children's Social Media Correspondence

Emphasizing the importance of social media monitoring by families, Minister Tekin said that children could encounter threats and blackmail through data shared on gaming platforms or social media. Pointing out the importance of parents having their children consult psychiatrists or psychologists, Tekin stated that correspondence should be monitored until children reach adulthood.

Security Measures Taken in Schools

Touching upon the security measures taken in schools, Tekin noted that they evaluated schools according to certain scales and created a list of standard precautions. Stating that they have implemented measures such as indoor and perimeter camera systems, facial recognition systems, and hand-held detectors, Tekin reported that over 23,000 garden attendants have officially started their duties.
