New Legislative Studies Initiated for Social Media and Digital Games
Pointing out that children's daily screen time is increasing, the ministry is working on introducing an e-Government identity verification model for social media.
Minister Göktaş stated that children's daily social media usage exceeds 3.5 hours and announced that a new legislative study is underway to require logging into social media platforms via e-Government identity verification.
Children's Screen Times Are Increasing
In her evaluation regarding children's social media usage times, Minister Göktaş stated that daily average usage exceeds 3.5 hours.
Pointing out that staying in front of the screen for long periods can negatively affect children's lives, Göktaş emphasized sleep pattern and concentration issues.
Identity Verification via e-Government
In the new legislative studies prepared by the ministry, a new model is being focused on regarding access to social media platforms.
The system, which envisions users being able to access social media platforms by performing identity verification through e-Government, is planned to protect personal data.
Age Groups in Digital Games
Another important headline of the new regulation consists of digital content and games.
With the regulation planned to be prepared, it is aimed to separate game contents more clearly according to age groups.
Digital Literacy Support for Families
Göktaş also reminded that access bans had previously been imposed on some platforms in line with judicial decisions.
It was stated that efforts by the ministry to raise awareness among families regarding the digital world are ongoing.
