Increasing Commerce on Social Media
Along with developing technology, it is stated that there has been a significant increase in sales made through social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, in addition to traditional shopping sites.
Details of New Obligations
With the published Tax Procedure Law communique, various legal responsibilities have been imposed on social media platforms, opening the door to a new era.
Reporting Obligation Introduced
Social media platforms are required to completely report the advertisements, sales transactions, tax payers, and parties to the sales carried out through their channels.
Reporting to the Revenue Administration
Reporting all sales transactions, events giving rise to taxation, and transaction parties to the Revenue Administration is now implemented as a legal obligation.
Implementation Process and Representatives
While the obligation in question entered into force with the publication of the communique, all identified earnings and advertisements, including the Turkey representations of the platforms, will be transmitted to the Turkish administrative authorities.
