Two Suspects Arrested Following Complaint by Young Woman Held Captive in House She Met on Social Media
Judicial authorities took action upon the report of a young woman who stated that she was held captive for a week at an address she went to following the guidance of people she met on social media in Istanbul.
Two suspects have been arrested in the investigation launched upon the complaint of 18-year-old B.T., who claimed she was held captive for about a week in a house she went to at the direction of someone she met on social media in Istanbul and was forced into prostitution.
Meeting Starting on Social Media
Eighteen-year-old B.T., living in Istanbul, met Enes S., who introduced himself as Uğurcan P. on social media. The two met and spent time together on August 27.
Stating that she could not return to her foundation in Ataşehir due to the late hour, the young girl agreed to go to the house arranged by Enes S. and gave him the 15 grams of gold she had with her for safekeeping.
Allegations of Forced Confinement at Home
The young woman saw that some Uzbek-national women were also staying in the house she went to. B.T., who spent about a week in the house, could not reach Enes S. during this time.
It was alleged that the homeowner O.Y., who introduced herself as Gül, arranged meetings with the young girl via telephone and forced her to have intercourse for money.
Escape from the House and Police Complaint
No longer able to withstand the pressures and difficulties, B.T. managed to escape from the house. The young girl told her volunteer mother about the situation.
Following the grave events, the mother and daughter went to the police together to file a complaint and a judicial process was initiated.
Investigation and Detentions
Within the scope of the investigation launched by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Enes S. and his uncle Erkan S. were detained.
While Enes S. admitted to using a fake profile but denied the prostitution allegations, Erkan S. argued that he knew women stayed at the address but had no connection to the crime.
Arrest Decision and Efforts to Apprehend Fugitive
Referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the police station, the suspects were brought before the duty judge on charges of encouraging, mediating, and providing a venue for prostitution.
By court order, two suspects were arrested and sent to prison, while efforts to capture the fugitive O.Y. within the scope of the investigation are ongoing.
