Under-15 Social Media Regulation Regulation to Be Released in October
Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş made statements regarding the child protection law proposal and the Family and Youth Fund process.
Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş announced during a live broadcast program that the Turkey-specific social media regulation for under-15s will come into effect in October.
Child Protection Law Proposal and Objectives
The 18-article proposal, which includes regulations for children dragged into crime and envisages amendments to certain laws, has been submitted to the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).
Minister Göktaş stated that the ministry contributed to the work of the Parliamentary Research Commission on Children Dragged into Crime.
The bill aims to strengthen protective and crime-preventing mechanisms for children.
Coordination in Judicial Processes and Inter-Institutional Cooperation
Minister Göktaş stated that protective mechanisms for children will be gathered under a single roof and institutions will be informed simultaneously.
Measures for children will be monitored on a case-by-case basis through commissions to be established within the governorates locally.
Under-15 Social Media Regulation
Within the scope of the Turkey-specific under-15 social media regulation, segregated content has been implemented for children between the ages of 15 and 18.
It was reported that the prepared regulation will be issued in October and will begin to be implemented effectively throughout Turkey.
Family and Youth Fund Applications and Support
It was announced that a total of 290,213 applications were made to the Family and Youth Fund nationwide.
Within the scope of support provided to families with children, it was reported that 15,101 babies had been born as of last night.
