2026 National University Sports Games Southern Region Competitions Concluded
The Southern region basketball matches of the 6th National University Sports Games, organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, have been completed.
Bringing students together across the country, the Southern region basketball competitions within the scope of the 6th National University Sports Games were successfully concluded, and various universities ranked in the tournament.
Purpose and Scope of the Games
The 6th National University Sports Games serve as an important platform connecting students nationwide.
Organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, the event continuously expands the competitive sports system to meet the physical training needs of young people.
Basketball Competitions and Participation
While the basketball discipline opened the competition series, the Southern region preliminaries were held with high participation.
A total of 30 men's and 16 women's teams participated in the competitions, bringing together 32 different educational institutions.
Men's Category Results
In the men's competition, which witnessed fierce rivalry, Ton Duc Thang University outpaced its opponents.
Ton Duc Thang University won the championship title by defeating Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport in the final.
Women's Category Results
In the women's competition, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics became the champion by managing to defeat RMIT University Vietnam.
Last year's champion, Ton Duc Thang University, shared third place along with Hoa Sen University.
Diversified Sports Disciplines
The NUC 2026 organization hosts traditional disciplines such as football, volleyball, basketball, badminton, and athletics.
Additionally, various alternative sports such as pickleball, billiards, body building, and vovinam were included in the organization system.
Upcoming Volleyball Competitions
Following the basketball excitement, the volleyball discipline is preparing to become the new focus of competitions for students in the Southern region.
The regional elimination and final rounds are planned to be hosted by Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.
