2nd Sports Schools Olympics Started with 12 Thousand Students in Konya
The organization, which started with the participation of one thousand five hundred athletes in 11 different branches in Konya, will last for three days.
The 2nd Sports Schools Olympics, brought to life with the support of the Konya Metropolitan Municipality, opened its doors with an enthusiastic ceremony at the Selçuk University Football Field.
The Beginning of the Olympics
The 2nd Sports Schools Olympics, held with the support of the Konya Metropolitan Municipality, started with great enthusiasm at the Selçuk University Football Field. Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Muzaffer Çintimar touched upon the importance of the organization and stated that they strive to ensure children meet with sports.
Participant and Branch Information
Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay expressed his happiness for being together with the youth and stated that Konya shines with the energy and excitement of the youth. The Olympics are organized in 11 different branches ranging from athletics to badminton, basketball to football.
In the three-day event, over 1,500 young athletes selected from a total of 12,180 students will showcase their talents.
Protocol Speeches and Opening
Mayor Altay stated that they are developing various projects for the youth to access sports, wished success to all athletes, and emphasized the importance of friendship. AK Party Konya Deputy Mehmet Baykan also praised the Metropolitan Municipality for its contributions to the facilities and the organization.
Following the opening ceremony, which concluded with a drum and light show, the official start of the Olympics was made. The event is held in the categories of athletics, badminton, basketball, bocce, dart, football, table tennis, traditional archery, modern archery, volleyball, and swimming.
