The Syrian Ministry of Youth and Sports has officially approved changing the name of the Ain al-Arab Sports Club to the Kobanê Sports Club.

Ministry Approval

The Syrian Ministry of Youth and Sports approved the name change following the official application by the club management and a vote by the general assembly.

The approval decision entered into force on October 5, 2026, and was communicated to the relevant institutions for implementation.

Management Application

Kobanê Sports Club President Mazlum Muhammed stated that they applied to the Aleppo Sports Directorate with the resumption of sporting activities.

Muhammed stated that they notified the relevant official authorities that the club will no longer operate under the name Ain al-Arab.

General Assembly Decision

As a result of discussions held at the club's general assembly, the name change proposal was unanimously accepted by the votes of the members.

This decision was based on official letters sent by the Aleppo Sports and Youth Directorate and relevant authorities in the region.

Club History

Founded in 1974, the sports club continued its activities under the name Ain al-Arab Sports Club for many years.

Following its re-affiliation with central sports institutions, the club applied to reclaim its official name.
