Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Yerlikaya Evaluates Boxing
Following the European Boxing Championship in Sofia, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Yerlikaya stated that Turkey is the leader in boxing and shared the ambition for medals at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Evaluating the European Boxing Championship held in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Yerlikaya emphasized that Turkey has declared its leadership in European boxing and expressed expectations for significant results at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Championship in Sofia and Medal Targets
Stating that national athletes achieved successful results at the European Boxing Championship held at the Asics Arena in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Yerlikaya expressed that Turkey has registered its leading position in Europe.
Stating that there are currently 10 medals and their colors will be finalized with the upcoming final matches, Yerlikaya expressed hope that all athletes who advanced to the semi-finals will win gold medals.
Expectations for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics
Emphasizing that the national team has a young and dynamic structure, Yerlikaya pointed out that each championship serves as an important rehearsal for the Olympics.
Stating that boxing is one of the branches closest to winning gold medals at the upcoming 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, Yerlikaya noted that they expect multiple medals from this branch.
Infrastructure Investments and Athlete Support
Stating that modern facilities brought to Turkish sports over the past 20 years and infrastructure investments form the basis of these successes, Yerlikaya conveyed that regular salary support is provided to thousands of athletes and centers in the infrastructure every year.
He stated that there are facilities capable of hosting international organizations across the country, from Hakkari to Edirne.
