Disciplinary Punishment from UEFA to Fenerbahçe Players
European football's governing body penalized the yellow-navy players and the club following controversial events in the Olympique Lyon match.
The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body announced that it has issued various fines and match suspensions to Matteo Guendouzi and Mason Greenwood due to incidents that occurred during the match between Olympique Lyon and Fenerbahçe.
Penalties Given to Matteo Guendouzi
A total fine of 50,000 euros and a 4-match suspension were decided by UEFA against Matteo Guendouzi.
According to this announced sanction, 2 matches of the player's penalty will be applied this season, while the other 2 matches will be subject to a 1-year probation period.
Mason Greenwood's Situation
As part of the investigation, Mason Greenwood was given a 30,000 euro fine and a 1-match suspension with a 1-year conditional probation.
In line with these decisions, it has become clear that Greenwood will be able to take the field in the match against Roma.
Fines Imposed on Clubs
The Fenerbahçe club was penalized due to the use of flares, pyrotechnic devices, crowd disturbances, and violations of general conduct rules.
The opposing Olympique Lyon club will also have to pay a total fine of 108,500 euros due to disciplinary violations.
Technical Staff and Appeal Process
Olympique Lyon goalkeeping coach Antonio Ferreira received a total 5-match suspension as a result of the incidents that took place.
The Fenerbahçe club officially announced that it will file an appeal with the UEFA Appeals Body against all these disciplinary penalties issued by UEFA.
