EURO 2032 Joint Hosting Stadium Selection Process Ongoing

The process of determining the stadiums to be used in the 2032 European Football Championship, to be hosted jointly by Turkey and Italy, is nearing its conclusion.

As preparations continue for the 2032 European Football Championship, which will be jointly organized by Turkey and Italy, the names of the 10 stadiums to be used in the tournament will be finalized shortly.

UEFA expects the two countries to officially submit five stadiums each to the board by Thursday.

Italian Media Assessment

In an analysis published in the Italian press by Corriere della Sera, it was emphasized that Turkey is ahead of Italy in terms of infrastructure investments ahead of the major organization.

The report stated that twenty-nine new stadiums have been built in Turkey over the last decade, with approximately 10 billion Euros invested in these projects.

Turkey's Candidate Cities

While two stadiums in Istanbul are planned to host EURO 2032, it is noted that the to-be-renovated Atatürk Olympic Stadium is among the strongest candidates for the final match.

While the New 19 May Stadium in the capital Ankara is among the candidates, Timsah Arena in Trabzon, Konya, Gaziantep, Eskişehir, Antalya, and Bursa are also among the structures being evaluated.

UEFA Capacity Criteria

According to UEFA rules, stadiums to be used in the tournament are required to have a minimum seating capacity of 30,000.

It is stated that stadiums with a capacity of 40,000 and above will provide an advantage during the selection process.

Italy's Candidate List

In Italy, the cities of Turin, Milan, Rome, Naples, Salerno, Florence, Cagliari, Genoa, Lecce, Bologna, Bari, and Palermo are involved in the candidacy process.

Italy is expected to make a selection from among twelve or thirteen candidates for the five-stadium quota, and the stadiums must be completed by the autumn of 2031.
