European Para Swimming Championship held in Kocaeli has concluded
National swimmers achieved outstanding success and won important medals at the organization in Kocaeli.
The 2026 European Para Swimming Championship held in Kocaeli concluded with historic successes and medals won by national athletes.
Historic Streak from Defne Kurt
Defne Kurt declared herself European champion for the 5th time in the 100m freestyle S10 category with a time of 59.37. Our national athlete had previously reached 5 golds at the world championship and achieved success in repeating this streak in Europe as well.
Defne Kurt's Gold Medals
Defne Kurt had climbed to the top of the podium in this championship on September 7 in the 50m freestyle S10 category with 27.45, on September 8 in the 200m medley SM10 category with 2:27.30, on September 10 in the 100m S10 butterfly with 1:03.98, and on September 11 in the 100m backstroke with 1:07.41.
Turgut Aslan Yaraman's Success
Turgut Aslan Yaraman climbed to the first-place podium in the 200m Individual Medley SM8 category with 2:24.13, reaching the gold medal for the 2nd time in the championship. The national athlete also won medals in various categories at the championship.
Umut Ünlü Won Silver Medal
Paralympic champion Umut Ünlü climbed to the second-place podium once again. The national athlete secured a silver medal with a time of 3:22.30 in the S3 category 200m freestyle, having previously been the European runner-up.
