Female Gym Owner Assaulted by Customer Recounts the Ordeal
Aylin Demirtaş, a gym owner in Yenişehir whose throat was squeezed by a customer, stated that she suffered a massive shock during the attack.
During an argument between gym owner Aylin Demirtaş and her customer K.T. at a gym in the Yenişehir district, the suspect squeezed the woman's throat. The suspect, who was detained following the incident, was released under judicial control conditions.
The Course of Events and Security Camera
The incident took place around noon on June 5 at a gym located on Ali Kaya Mutlu Street in Çiftlikköy Neighborhood, Yenişehir district. The argument between gym owner Aylin Demirtaş and her customer K.T., which started over allegations of disturbance, turned into a fight.
According to security camera footage, the suspect K.T. walked towards Demirtaş, with whom she was arguing, and squeezed her throat. Another female employee at the gym intervened, separated the parties, and pushed the suspect away.
Complaints from Members
Stating that she has been running a gym for about 5 years, Aylin Demirtaş stated that they had received numerous complaints from members in the gym regarding the suspect prior to the incident. She explained that especially female members expressed their discomfort.
Stating that they had decided not to renew the suspect's membership, but that this transaction could not take place at that moment because another staff member renewed the registration, Demirtaş conveyed that she issued a warning when the problems persisted.
The Moment of Attack and the Fear Experienced
Demirtaş stated that she tried to talk calmly with the suspect on the day of the incident and conveyed the members' discomfort, but that the suspect entered the gym. She noted that she was attacked at an unexpected moment.
Describing the fear she experienced, the business owner said that she went into shock and could not react, that her breath was cut off, and that she was pushed backward. She stated that she hurt her back while trying not to hit the glass door and suffered pain for a while.
Legal Process and Judicial Control Decision
Demirtaş reacted to the situation by stating that after the attack, the suspect entered the gym a few more times, saying that she would work out and continued her attitude. The young woman expressed that she had a hard time recovering after the incident.
K.T., who was detained upon the instruction of the public prosecutor following the complaint, was referred to the courthouse after procedures at the police station. The duty court applied judicial control conditions to the suspect.
