Flag-raising ceremony held for Vietnamese sports delegation in Nagoya
A welcome and flag-raising ceremony was held for the Vietnamese sports delegation within the scope of the 20th Asian Games organized in Nagoya, Japan.
With the ceremony held on the morning of September 18, 2026 at Fuji Plaza in Nagoya Port, Japan, the flag of the Vietnamese sports delegation participating in the 20th Asian Games (ASIAD 20) was hoisted.
Details of the Ceremony
An official welcome and flag-raising ceremony was organized by the organizing committee in honor of the Vietnamese sports delegation at Fuji Plaza, located in the Garden Pier area of Nagoya Port, Japan.
Within the scope of the event, Vietnam's red flag with a yellow star was hoisted to the accompaniment of the national anthem, officially sealing the country's participation in the games.
Participating Delegation
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong and Head of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation and Deputy Director of the Vietnam Sports Administration Nguyen Hong Minh attended the ceremony.
At this meaningful gathering where a total of 14 delegation members were present, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong came together with the athletes to give them morale and support.
Preparation Process for the Games
Head of Delegation Nguyen Hong Minh reported that the health status of the athletes is completely stable and the entire delegation is fully prepared for the competitions.
It was stated that proactive plans were developed to adapt to the conditions in Japan despite the difficulties caused by the teams staying in different accommodations.
Tournament Schedule
The official opening ceremony of the 20th Asian Games, which will be held in Aichi-Nagoya between September 19 and October 4, 2026, will take place on the evening of September 19.
The Vietnamese sports delegation completed its preparations to compete for medals by participating in this year's organization with a total of 498 members.
