Gia Lai Province Organizes Its First Sports Festival
The first Provincial Sports Festival held in Gia Lai province witnessed great enthusiasm with thousands of participants and a rich program of events.
Gia Lai province inaugurated its first Sports Festival in the new development stage, with a total of over 4,000 people participating, including approximately 3,000 athletes, coaches, and referees.
Scope of the Festival and Participants
Gia Lai province held the opening ceremony of its first Provincial Sports Festival in 2026 under the theme "Gia Lai Sports – Development Goal." This organization was implemented in the first year of the application of the two-tier local government model and within the scope of the National Tourism Year.
Local Preparation Process
Grassroots-level congresses were held between November 2025 and May 2026, with 137 out of 138 units completing their processes, achieving a success rate of 99.2%. Each locality organized numerous competition events within its own structure.
Competitions and Finals
The provincial-level games included 21 sports disciplines; approximately 3,000 athletes, over 600 coaches, and 500 referees took part in the organization. In early September, finals in various disciplines continue with great excitement.
Opening and Leadership Messages
Pham Anh Tuan, Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, stated that the event promotes solidarity, the desire for progress, and the heroic spirit of Tay Son. Provincial Party Secretary Thai Dai Ngoc lit the traditional torch during the opening night.
