High School Student Melek Gürbüz Becomes Muay Thai Champion with Her Own Means in Bursa

16-year-old high school student Melek Gürbüz, living in Bursa, achieved great success in the field of muay thai in a short time with her gym membership paid through her own means by working in a clothing store after her family withdrew their support out of fear of injury.

Family's Reaction After the Injury

16-year-old high school student Melek Gürbüz, living in Bursa's Nilüfer district, started the sport of muay thai a year ago. The young athlete suffered an injury when her knee twisted during training and went through a two-month treatment process.

Following this injury incident, her family, concerned that she might get injured again, demanded that Melek quit the sport and stated that they would not cover her gym membership fee.

Paid Her Membership Fee by Working in a Store

Deciding to chart her own path after her family withdrew their financial support, the young athlete started working in a clothing store in her spare time after school.

Regularly paying her gym membership fee with the earnings she made from working, Melek Gürbüz resumed her training in the ring right where she left off, after her coach Ceyda Kaba also persuaded her family.

Medals and Championships Coming in Six Months

Continuing her preparations under difficult conditions, Melek Gürbüz managed to achieve significant degrees in the competitions she entered shortly after.

Stepping onto the podium in tournaments held throughout the year, the young athlete drew attention by winning two championships and one second place within a span of six months.

Goal is the National Team Jersey

Wanting to add new achievements to the ones she has already gained, the successful athlete continues her work with great perseverance and determination.

Melek Gürbüz's biggest future goal is to represent Turkey in the international arena in the ring wearing the national team jersey.
