A fire broke out on August 30 in the sauna section of a gym located in the Gültepe neighborhood of Batman.
Loss of Life and Injuries
As a result of the fire, Şanzime Sarıgül, Emine Yani, and Gülsüm Öztekin Tunç, a mother of two children, lost their lives. A total of 9 people were also injured in the incident.

It was learned that 42-year-old Emine Yani, one of the deceased, was the daughter of Ahmet Şimşek, the older brother of Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek.
Condolence Visit by Ministers
Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek arrived in the city in the evening and attended the condolence gathering set up at the Necat Nasıroğlu Complex. Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin also paid a condolence visit along with Batman Governor Ekrem Canalp and AK Party Provincial Chairman Hüseyin Şansi.
