Sultan of the Net at the top of the European Championship
Hosting the organization in Istanbul, our national team defeated Italy to lift the trophy and left their mark on the event with individual awards.
The Turkish Women's National Volleyball Team defeated Italy 3-2 in the final of the 2026 CEV Women's European Volleyball Championship, securing the European championship for the second consecutive time and winning major individual awards in the tournament.
Final Match and Championship
In the final of the Trendyol 2026 CEV Women's European Championship, the Turkish Women's National Volleyball Team faced Italy at the Sinan Erdem Sports Hall. Winning the match 3-2, the Sultans of the Net triumphed in the European Championship for the second consecutive time to claim the gold medal.
Trophy Ceremony Details
A grand trophy ceremony was held following the final hosted by Istanbul. The ceremony was attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak, CEV President Roko Sikiric, and TVF President Mehmet Akif Üstündağ.
Presentation of Medals
During the ceremony, CEV President Roko Sikiric presented the championship trophy to Turkey. Afterward, medals were awarded to Italy, who finished the tournament in second place, and Serbia, who finished third.
Most Valuable Player and Head Coach
Following the conclusion of the championship, individual awards and the dream team were announced to the public. Melissa Vargas, who played a major role in the team's success, was chosen as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, while Daniele Santarelli became the best head coach.
Names in the Dream Team
The dream team, consisting of the tournament's best players, featured our national athletes Derya Cebecioğlu, Zehra Güneş, and Gizem Örge. Additionally, Myriam Sylla and Hena Kurtagic also made it to the roster.
