The Turkish Football Federation has introduced a temporary regulation regarding the foreign player rule to prevent financial grievances and the risk of justified contract terminations for clubs. According to the official statement, foreign football players who cannot be registered in the A team list will be able to feature in Ziraat Turkish Cup matches under certain conditions.

Clubs' Requests Met with Response

The Turkish Football Federation evaluated the requests coming from clubs due to the foreign player rule applied in the new season and took a new step.

In line with the decision taken, it is aimed to reduce the risk of unilateral termination of contracts for foreign football players who could not be included in the squad.

Rule Details for Super Lig and 1st League

Trendyol Super Lig clubs will be able to include a maximum of 14 foreign national football players in the Ziraat Turkish Cup match name list.

Trendyol 1st League clubs, on the other hand, will be able to write a maximum of 8 foreign players on the match name list, provided that a maximum of 6 foreign players are on the field at the same time.

Scope and Validity Conditions

This temporary flexibility will be valid for football players whose contracts with the clubs continue as of August 26, 2026, the date of the decision.

New transfers to be made after this date will not be included in the relevant scope, and the existing league rules will continue to be preserved as they are.
