Traditional Archery Competitions Begin in Cappadocia

Organized under the leadership of Gökbörü Traditional Sports Club and hosted by the Uçhisar Municipality, the 5th Traditional Archery Competitions have started in the Cevizlidere Valley of Cappadocia.
Historical Atmosphere in Cevizlidere Valley
Cevizlidere Valley, covered with fairy chimneys, is the scene of colorful images bringing together traditional sports enthusiasts. Stations set up at various points in the organization area offer athletes a unique experience.
Period Costumes and Original Equipment
Athletes participating in the event compete wearing period costumes. Contestants showcase their skills using historical clothing, bows, arrows, and various equipment.
Categories and Targets
The competitions are organized in various categories including juniors, youth, adult women, and adult men. Athletes sweat to make accurate shots at target platforms located across 21 different stations.
Cultural Transmission and Goals
Gökbörü Traditional Sports Club President Fethi Yöndemli stated that the organization adds value to the region. Mehmet Fatih Tan expressed that the event has transformed into a cultural festival and is aimed to be held with higher participation next year.
