Turkey Sports Economy Report Announced by Deloitte and TMOK
The Turkey Sports Economy and Sector Report, prepared in cooperation with Deloitte Turkey and TMOK, revealed that the total spending volume reached 181 billion liras.
The results of the Turkey Sports Economy and Sector Report, prepared in partnership with Deloitte Turkey and the Turkish National Olympic Committee (TMOK), were shared with the public. According to the report, the total annual spending volume of the sports ecosystem reached approximately 181 billion liras.
Total Spending Volume
The annual expenditures of professional and amateur sports, national institutions, and schools amounted to approximately 81 billion liras. Together with the 100 billion liras of investments made by central and local governments, the total ecosystem spending rose to 181 billion liras.
Share of Football Economy
Football constituted approximately 75 percent of the 54.2 billion lira professional club and athlete economy calculated for the past year. Direct fan expenditures, meanwhile, reached 18.5 billion liras through ticket, season ticket, VIP, and merchandising activities.
Volleyball and Basketball Sector
The professional volleyball economy reached a size of approximately 4.6 billion liras, with women's leagues accounting for 60 percent of this figure. The basketball economy, accompanied by international club successes, reached a size of approximately 7.3 billion liras.
Amateur and School Sports
The economic size of the amateur sports ecosystem was measured at around the 10 billion lira level. Among these, football led with 4.7 billion liras, while the number of students participating in school sports rose to 1.3 million in the 2024-2025 period.
Sports Tourism and Niche Areas
Between 50 and 60 percent of the sports tourism revenue in Turkey, which rose to a range of 45 to 55 billion liras, was generated by international visitors. Golf tourism and camp sites along the Antalya-Belek line played an effective role in this growth.
