Turkish Athletes Secure Two Boxing Medals on Day Six of the Mediterranean Games

On the sixth day of the Mediterranean Games held in Taranto, Italy, national athletes competing in boxing, swimming, and volleyball achieved critical placements and secured semifinal spots.

Semifinals and Guaranteed Medals in Boxing

In the 60 kg quarterfinal match of the boxing category, Mehmethan Çınar defeated his Moroccan opponent Othman Chadghour to advance to the semifinals. With this result, Çınar guaranteed a medal.

Sema Çalışkan, who took to the ring in the 65 kg quarterfinal, became another athlete to advance to the semifinals by defeating Spanish athlete Mariana Soto Torres, also guaranteeing a medal. Meanwhile, Bilge Kağan Kanlı, Nilay Yaren Çam, and Samet Gümüş, who competed in the same discipline, bid farewell to the tournament.

Results Achieved in Swimming Competitions

In the swimming events, Meriç Uygun finished fifth overall in the 200-meter individual medley category. Mert Ali Satır came fifth in the 100-meter backstroke event, while Selen Özbilen took seventh place in the 50-meter freestyle event.

Two Wins out of Two for the Men's Volleyball Team

The Men's National Volleyball Team, which includes Muhammed Kaya in its squad, faced Kosovo in their second match of the group stage. Defeating their opponent 3-2, the national team emerged victorious from their second group match, making it two wins out of two.
