The Turkish Football Federation management will hold a critical meeting today at 15:00 to discuss the possibility of an extraordinary election and the future of A National Team Head Coach Vincenzo Montella.
Meeting Details and Return of the President
The critical meeting that will clarify the board's future will take place today at 15:00. President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu, who has been in Europe since Tuesday holding talks with UEFA officials, returned to Istanbul in the morning and will personally chair the session.
Resignations and Departures in the Management
Six names have departed from the board of directors that took office in the election on July 18, 2024. While Bayram Saral, Bayram Akgül, and Ceyhun Kazancı previously resigned, Mevlüt Aktan, Seymen Geçtürk, and Adem Doğrul stepped down with a demand for an extraordinary election. Meanwhile, Ural Aküzüm departed after being referred to the PFDK on the grounds that he had a betting account.
Management's Tendency to Continue and Montella Decision
Fourteen of the remaining 20 board members favor continuing in office. While the decisions to be made in the upcoming session are eagerly awaited, this meeting will also determine the future of A National Team Head Coach Vincenzo Montella.
Following the failure at the 2026 World Cup, losing the first four matches in the UEFA Nations League had put Montella under pressure. If the management decides to continue in office, parting ways with Montella is considered certain.
MHK Presidency and Other Agenda Items
The meeting will also address important topics including the Central Arbitration Committee (MHK) presidency, which became vacant following Gündoğdu's arrest, and the situation of Anthony Taylor.
