Two People Die in Batman Gym Fire
A fire that broke out in a private gym caused widespread panic, prompting numerous teams to be dispatched to the scene for search and rescue operations.
As a result of a fire that broke out for yet undetermined reasons at a private gym located in the Gültepe neighborhood of Batman, two people lost their lives and ten others were injured, one of them critically. A large number of emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene.
Origin of the Fire
A fire broke out at a private gym named HhSfit, located in Batman's Gültepe neighborhood. According to statements made by the Governor's Office, the flames are assessed to have started in the sauna section around 16:20.
Intervention by Teams
Immediately following the notice, fire department, AFAD, UMKE, and 112 Emergency Health teams were dispatched to the scene. The teams reached the location in a short time, intervened in the flames, and initiated search and rescue operations.
Loss of Life and Injured
A total of twelve people affected by smoke were transported by ambulances to hospitals in the city. Despite all medical interventions at the hospital, Emine Yeni and Şanzime Sarıgük could not be saved and lost their lives.
Investigations by Authorities
Batman Governor Ekrem Canalp arrived at the scene to receive information from authorities and conduct inspections. Governor Canalp reported that the fire teams performed sweeps in the gym four times and encountered no one else.
Judicial and Administrative Investigation
It was noted that the condition of one of the injured individuals undergoing treatment remains critical, while the health conditions of the other injured are stable. The judicial and administrative investigation process regarding this tragic incident is ongoing.
